It’s time to identify your story’s subgenre. 

NEW & EXPERIENCED WRITERS:

Identify the subgenre for your story idea, or choose one you wish to tackle. If none of the subgenres listed above are quite right, browse the romance subgenre categories on Amazon or Goodreads. Goodreads is particularly useful, as it includes descriptions of each subgenre. 

REVISING WRITERS:

Chances are you have already identified your story’s subgenre. Consider whether it’s the right fit for the story. If it is, have you kept your promise to the reader by delivering those elements essential to the genre? 

ALL WRITERS:

Note down your chosen subgenre and heat level in your answer booklet. Conduct some online research about common elements for that subgenre. Write a paragraph or two about how you might incorporate them into the story and keep your promise to the reader.
